On our last family trip to Mexico, we stayed at the Mahekal Beach Resort in Playa Del Carmen. It was quiet and quaint with a laid back feel. We were struck by the eclectic variety of lighting around the property. Everything from glass and iron to ceramic and basket weave styles. Always be on the lookout while traveling, you never know where design inspiration may turn up!
In the evenings, we walked up a tree-lined Av Andres Q Roo to the famous 5th Ave (Quinta Avenida) in old town Playa to eat, drink and walked through the shops. There is this great place called CARAVAN which has many unique and colorful glass chandeliers, as well as a great selection of textiles, pillows, wood and metal sculptures and print art. A fun place and they’ll ship stuff home for you!
Muchas Gracias Playa Del Carmen, Hasta Pronto!
