Making summertime fun for the whole family while still…let’s see, what else is there…oh yes, WORKING can be a challenge. As “HOLY MOLY, SCHOOL’S OUT!” gives way to “I’m bored…and hungry”, we needed a to plan for the summer would go and still maintain a level of spontaneity that summertime is famous for. We recently took a trip to celebrate the end of the school year and reconnect as a family.  While this was wonderful and relaxing, we now we have just shy of 3 months of summer to manage. One way we have found to keep the balance-and peace- is to have our kids make a Summer Bucket List of things they would like to do.

Kyndra’s one rule, don’t write down “go to Mexico”.  We mixed ideas that were free with ones that had a price tag; activities that take an hour or so with some that could take a day or even a weekend. After weeding out the plane rides, we hung up the list. The ideas that might take a bit of pre-planning we can work on and the rest we leave to address the spontaneity of summer…stay tune for the “big kids” summer bucket lists!
